Hi Food Pantry Friends,
February 16, 2010
I thought I would start
sending some emails to Food Pantry volunteers and friends in the way of a
newsletter. Since becoming
President, I’ve gotten a number of questions from volunteers about the Food
Pantry and I realize we don’t have any opportunity when we’re open to talk about
the Pantry.
So if there is something
about the Food Pantry you would like to know send me an email and I’ll address
it in the next newsletter.
If you don’t want to
receive these emails let me know and I’ll take your name off the list.
The topic for this email is
Food Pantry Management and Organization,
Who does What?
The Food Pantry is
registered with the federal government as a 501(c)(3) Public Charity.
Activities of the Food Pantry are overseen by a Board of Directors which
for the most part is comprised of the officers and the task managers but also
includes some external members. The
jobs that need to be done between Food Pantry openings are done by the Officers
and Task Managers.
The
Officers do the tasks needed to keep
the Food Pantry, the 501(c)(3) public charity, up and running.
Paying the bills, writing the letters, responding to the phone calls,
doing the grant work, etc, so the public, the grantees, and the federal and
state governments will continue funding the food pantry.
There is nothing complicated here, just stuff that needs to be done.
Officers
Bill Yacovissi – President
Tim Lyons – Vice President
Peggi Jones – Treasurer
Donna Stiner – Secretary
The
Task Managers do the jobs that need
to be done between openings so that the Food Pantry can open.
Mostly this involves getting the food ordered and into the storeroom with
an appropriate quantity and variety.
